Andrew Nichols

Andrew was born in Moberly, Missouri, where he spent his early years before moving with his family to the rural town of Richmond, Michigan at age eight. His passion for music began at a young age, shaped by the influences of both his parents. Through his father, he discovered the sounds of Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, while his mother introduced him to artists like Rod Stewart and Bette Midler.

Growing up surrounded by such a wide range of music deeply influenced Andrew’s identity as a singer-songwriter. His diverse musical foundation is reflected in his sound today, blending genres with ease. His bold personality shines through in his work, and his background in musical theater brings a dynamic, expressive quality to his vocal style.

At 15, Andrew came out as gay and was met with unwavering love and support from his family—an experience that gave him the confidence to fully embrace who he is. Andrew uses his voice and platform to bring visibility to often-overlooked members of the LGBTQ+ community—especially those who, like him, were raised in small-town or rural environments. Proud of his roots, he describes himself as “Backroads Raised.”
